Deadmau5 es un productor y DJ canadiense del género progressive house / Minimal trance conocido por pistas,como "Strobe","Not Exactly","Arguru" y "Ghosts N Stuff"; producciones que se han incluido en la compilación de álbumes como In Search of Sunrise 6: Ibiza and MixMag's "Tech-Trance-Electro-Madness", mezclados por el mismo, y en A State of Trance programma  de radio del reconocido productor y DJ Armin Van Buuren. Deadmau5 fue considerado como el más sobresaliente productor del 2007 por Tiësto y Armin Van Buuren en entrevistas con respecto a su ranking en DJMAG's top DJs in the World. Desde principios de 2007, ha producido un gran número de sencillos, lanzados bajo sello de Mau5trap Recordings y han estado presentes en al menos 15 recopilaciones en 2007. 

El nombre de Deadmau5 proviene de un incidente donde un ratón se arrastró en la computadora de Zimmerman. Escogió el nombre “Deadmau5” porque "ratón muerto" comprende demasiados caracteres usados comúnmente en medio.

En noviembre de 2008 fue proclamado como el décimo mejor DJ delmundo según DJmag, en el año 2009 fue elegido por los lectores de DJ Magazine como el sexto mejor DJ del mundo. y en el 2010 fue elejido por los lectores de DJ MAG como el cuarto mejor dj del mundo
